On December 12, 2024, Puran Chand Jeswani, a renowned business leader and a significant figure in the trade and investment sector, delivered a compelling speech at the 2025 Lighting Capital Trade Center Project Launch Conference held in Zhongshan, China. His keynote address centered on fostering deeper economic ties between China and Oman, encouraging Chinese companies to explore investment opportunities in the rapidly developing market of Oman.

Jeswani, who has been a prominent advocate for cross-border investments, particularly between the Middle East and Asia, highlighted the strategic importance of Oman as a gateway for Chinese businesses looking to expand into the Middle Eastern and African markets. He emphasized that Sultanate of Oman, with its stable economy, strategic location, and investor-friendly policies, presents unparalleled opportunities for Chinese companies in various sectors, including trade, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure.

Oman as a Prime Destination for Chinese Investments

In his speech, Jeswani began by outlining the potential of Sultanate of Oman as an emerging investment hub in the Middle East. With its robust infrastructure, excellent logistics network, and preferential trade agreements, the country has been actively attracting foreign direct investments (FDI) in recent years. Jeswani pointed out that Oman’s efforts to diversify its economy away from oil dependency through Vision 2040 align perfectly with the Chinese government’s ambitions to expand its global economic footprint under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

“The Lighting Capital Trade Center is just one of many initiatives that highlight the tremendous investment potential Oman offers. As the country continues to diversify its economy, Chinese companies, particularly in high-tech sectors and sustainable industries, will find a fertile ground to thrive and expand,” Jeswani said.

He also underscored the importance of the growing China-Oman Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which has removed several barriers to trade and investment, making Oman even more attractive for Chinese businesses. He emphasized the ease of doing business in Sultanate of Oman, citing the country’s transparent regulatory framework and low taxation policies as key drivers for investment.

The 2025 Lighting Capital Trade Center Project

Jeswani’s speech was particularly focused on the Lighting Capital Trade Center, a groundbreaking project aimed at transforming Zhongshan into a global center for the lighting industry. This trade center will not only serve as a hub for global lighting manufacturers but also provide a platform for innovation, research, and development in lighting technology. Jeswani encouraged Chinese companies, particularly in the lighting and renewable energy sectors, to explore collaboration opportunities with Omani counterparts.

“The Lighting Capital Trade Center is a testament to the forward-thinking approach of Chinese industry leaders, and this project presents a perfect opportunity for Omani businesses to partner with Chinese enterprises. By integrating Omani innovation and Chinese manufacturing excellence, we can achieve new milestones in sustainable infrastructure,” Jeswani added.

A Call to Action: Strengthening Sino-Omani Collaboration

Towards the end of his speech, Jeswani issued a call to action to Chinese businesses. He urged them to seize the opportunity to tap into the growing market in Oman, leveraging the region’s favorable trade conditions and developing a mutually beneficial partnership. He also encouraged businesses to attend the upcoming Oman-China Investment Forum scheduled for early 2025, where potential investment deals and joint ventures would be explored in greater detail.

Jeswani’s speech received widespread acclaim, with many in the audience acknowledging his deep understanding of both the Omani and Chinese markets. His vision for future collaboration is seen as an essential step in the development of stronger Sino-Omani economic relations.

The Future of Sino-Omani Relations

Looking ahead, Puran Chand Jeswani believes that the relationship between PR China and Sultanate of Oman is poised for significant growth. With his ongoing efforts to connect businesses and investors across borders, Jeswani is confident that the 2025 Lighting Capital Trade Center Project will be a stepping stone towards realizing a broader vision of economic cooperation, not only between China and Sultanate of Oman but also across the entire Middle East and Asian regions.

In closing, Jeswani remarked, “The future of Sino-Omani trade is bright, and we must work together to unlock the vast opportunities that await. The 2025 Lighting Capital Trade Center is just the beginning of a deeper, more productive partnership between our two great nations.”
